All Pilots Have Southern Accents

SFO to Miami. Miami to Nassau. 8:50 to 5:15 to 9:35.

We got to Nassau today at about 10AM, having been up all night on a sleepless red eye. The jumper plane we took from Miami to Nassau was a sketchy commercial propeller plane. It was hot and humid and we were pretty well scrunched together. The jumper flight was 50 minutes over the bluest water I have ever seen. Cloud shadows looked like coral reefs on the ocean floor. As we landed we started talking to the people sitting a row behind us who also were also on Semester at Sea. We lost them going through customs but we told them we’d see them on board. Once through customs, we taxied to the hotel, and thankfully they let us check in 5 hours early, which was so amazing because we were all so craving beds and showers and waiting until check in time at 4pm sounded pretty dreadful. We were skillfully able to sneak Emily in so that we only had to pay for a 2 person room instead of a 3 person room. Now that’s efficient economics.

We situated ourselves into our room, and after a well needed nap we trekked out to the beach across the street, which was indescribable. The beach was fine and white and had clear warm water that most tubs and hot tubs would be jealous of. We dipped at the beach and later walked down a path along the beach and dined. The food was so-so. The daiquiris were good. Right now we’re lounging back at the room before hitting up the pool for a relaxing evening. A full night of sleep will be great. Tomorrow I believe the plan is to find this beach called Cabbage Beach that a friend of mine had told me about, and maybe check out a Casino along the way.
